Scale M: £57,050 to £62,860 p.a.

Overview of the job
This is a great time to join Active Learning Trust’s central team. Our new Chief Executive Officer joined the Trust on 1 January 2023 and has an exciting and positive change journey planned, as has our newly appointed Director of Operations. Come and join the Trust in the early stages of this journey.
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the appointee will lead on tendering activities and oversight of our large contracts across the Trust. The successful candidate will work as part of the Active Learning Trust Operations Directorate, using their expertise to deliver value for money for our academies.
The appointee will have strong negotiation skills; the ability to think strategically and a proven record in effectively assessing and managing risk. Working alongside our central and academy teams, we are looking for someone who works collaboratively, is a strong team player and has excellent communication skills.
The appointee will shape the procurement strategy for the Trust; analysing and interpreting spend data and information from schools. They will lead tenders and OJEU procurement, where applicable, to ensure adherence to procurement legislation. At the same time, deliver the provision of guidance and support to colleagues to ensure compliance with Trust procedures and legislative requirements, ensuring value for money.
From a contracts perspective the appointee will take ownership of reviewing and managing contracts based on the contractual terms and supporting academies in the day-to-day management and delivery of those contracts.

The appointee can either be based in an Active Learning Trust school or work at home with some travel to the Trust’s academies and elsewhere, as required. This role requires a self-disciplined and highly organised individual who can plan the effective use of their time in an environment with tight deadlines.
It is imperative that the appointee can manage and timetable procurement tender activity in conjunction with internal stakeholders, ensuring that all tender documentation is accurate, fit for purpose and secures the most appropriate contractor.
Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS), a relevant degree or equivalent vocational training are desirable. Demonstrable experience of working in a Procurement role or environment where similar responsibilities / duties were involved is essential. Current knowledge and understanding of UK procurement legislation, including Framework Agreements is also essential.
