We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced person to join our in-house maintenance/premises team. The successful applicant will be expected to perform a range of premises-related duties and either have experience in the building trade and/or be a skilled and keen DIY enthusiast able to tackle a range of duties.
GRADE: Grade 5 SALARY: £21,575 – £22,369 plus 7% shift premium
HOURS: 37 hours per week
RESPONSIBLE TO: Premises Manager
ANNUAL LEAVE: 24 days per annum plus bank holidays
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: This position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.
Some of the key duties include:
Carry out replacement, minor repairs and maintenance to fabric, fittings and furnishings of the premises which are within the post holder’s competence. Areas could include decorating, plumbing, carpentry etc. This aspect will be one of the more significant aspects of the role.
Arrange for outside contractors to undertake work on site, as appropriate, issuing a Permit to Work. Liaise with contractors working on site.
Draw attention of the Premises Manager to any repairs and maintenance work required.
In liaison with the Premises Manager, report on, arrange and oversee any alterations, redecoration, building and maintenance works and specialised repair work undertaken by external contractors.
Maintain security and safety of premises and contents at all times, open and close at appointed times for staff and pupils, carry out security procedures, operating intruder alarms as per the School’s instructions and securing premises following illegal entry/vandalism.
Ensure that the school is open to persons who have hired the premises for private or the School’s use.
Take reasonable steps to deter trespass on school premises and unauthorised parking of vehicles.
Be a registered key holder and undertake the responsibility of key holder and where possible nominate a deputy to cover for periods of absence.
Report any security breaches to the Premises Manager and to recommend any appropriate improvements to the security policy.
