Alternative Provision – Is it Time for a Rethink?

Introducing Andrew Kitterick (BSc Hons, PGCE) Education Leadership Consultant as our Education Insider for the September edition of Education Insights.

Andrew spent 8 years as Executive Headteacher and Director of Education for Pivot Group, a group of independent Alternative Provision and SEMH Schools across Key Stages 1-5 in the North of England. As a company director, Andrew was instrumental in the rapid growth and success of the company, securing good OFSTED outcomes across all Schools and establishing it as a leading provider of a wide range of educational support services. Andrew also has extensive consultancy experience and has worked with numerous Schools, Multi-Academy Trusts and Local Authorities where he gained results in academic and pastoral attainment, change management and school improvement.

Andrew’s experience includes teaching, leadership and advisory roles in both mainstream and SEND/SEMH settings across Key Stages 1-5 and working with partners on commissioning, new and innovative Alternative Provision models and strategic growth leading to improved outcomes. This wide-ranging experience has given him an in-depth understanding of the challenges faced in all settings and provides him with expertise when advising on inclusion, SEND and Alternative Provision.

Andrew’s passion and interests are ensuring equitable and aspirational educational provision for all, and he is currently advising several local and national organisations and MATs on inclusion, Alternative Provision and SEND.
