MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS & DUTIES
Leadership and Management
Support the Childcare Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting and take full responsibility in their absence.
Lead, supervise, and support staff to ensure high-quality care and practice.
Manage staff rotas, absences, and deployment to maintain required ratios.
Oversee staff induction, training, appraisals, and ongoing professional development.
Support safer recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Promote a positive, professional team culture and lead by example.
Operations and Administration
Oversee daily nursery operations, ensuring smooth running of rooms and activities.
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with EYFS and data protection requirements.
Manage bookings, attendance, and nursery systems ie Connect, Tapestry etc.
Support funding processes and general administration as required.
Act as key holder and ensure the security of the premises.
Liaise with parents, external agencies, and partner schools.
Curriculum and Quality
Support delivery of a high-quality EYFS curriculum across the setting.
Guide staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating engaging learning opportunities.
Monitor practice to ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment.
Build strong partnerships with parents to support children’s development.
Assist with inclusive practice in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
Coordinate support for children with additional needs using the graduated approach.
Support staff with observations, assessments, and individual plans.
Liaise with families and external professionals.
Safeguarding, Health and Safety
Promote a strong safeguarding culture and ensure all concerns are managed appropriately.
Ensure full compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies.
Monitor risk assessments and maintain a safe environment for children, staff, and visitors.
Salary Range:
£31,499 - £34,875
Salary is dependent upon qualifications, skills and experience.
