Job Description

Teaching Assistant
Pay scale NJC 2025 (£24,413 annual pro-rata to £18,777)
30 hours per week, 38 weeks per year

At Burwell Village College we believe that every child has the ability to succeed if we give them the right opportunities. We have recently rewritten our curriculum to reflect the highest standards in all curriculum areas. We know that giving children support in areas they need is crucial to their success, making them believe that they can achieve. This what our team of support staff does. They give children the belief that they can succeed. We want to strengthen this team by bringing on board staff who can support children in class and deliver booster groups for specific areas of learning, for example phonics.

Our TAs provide invaluable support for children in the classroom. They work with groups and individuals to ensure that they can achieve the learning set by the class teachers. They support, monitor and guide pupils to complete activities independently and where necessary give specific instruction on how a task should be completed. Our TA team also deliver booster groups to some of children who need additional support to achieve specific goals, e.g. passing the phonics screening check. These groups are kept very small to ensure that we have maximum impact. Working as a TA also means gathering and preparing resources, being available for first aid and providing social and emotional support for pupils when they need it.

The children here are well-behaved, hard-working and eager to learn. The facilities are fantastic with space and equipment readily available. Parents are keen to support the school and are positive about the improvements continuing to be made.

This is a brilliant opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of the nearly four hundred children. If you have the knowledge and skills we are looking for then we would be really keen to hear from you.

If you would like to know more about the school, please contact the school office and ask to speak to the Headteacher. We can arrange online conversations, as well as traditional phone calls. We are able to offer visits to the school by prior appointment.
