SEND and Administrative Assistant
Hours: 12 per week
Salary: Scale C – £13.26 per hour
Contract: 39 weeks (term time only)
Start Date: As soon as possible
We are looking to appoint a highly organised and efficient administrator to support the SENDCo and school office at Townley, as well as contribute to the smooth and effective operation of SEND provision across the Fenland Schools Federation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills
• Strong communication abilities
• A calm, professional approach when working with staff, students, parents, and external agencies
This is a part-time role for two day per week, term time only. We can offer some flexibility regarding which day is worked. Previous experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the SENDCo in managing SEND provision across both schools within the Federation
• Ensure effective communication with staff, students, families, and external agencies
• Organise statutory and professional meetings, including preparing documents, taking minutes, and distributing follow-up paperwork
• Maintain the SEND diary and send reminders to relevant staff
• Administer EHCP processes, including requesting information and collating data on attainment, attendance, and interventions
• Set up and maintain confidential filing systems
• Prepare and distribute SEND documentation for staff, parents, and agencies
• Assist with data analysis and production of reports for parents and staff
• Prioritise workload to meet statutory deadlines and work closely with the SENDCo
• Keep accurate records of external agency liaison and ensure timely dissemination of paperwork
Skills and Experience
• Proficient in IT systems, with strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel (including spreadsheets and mail merge)
• Ability to work confidentially and handle sensitive information
• Strong communication skills with staff, parents, and external professionals
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative when required
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively
