Fixed term contract New NJC 3 – 4

We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to work in our popular Primary School. The post offers interesting and rewarding opportunities for a caring, enthusiastic and energetic person who has experience of working with children with learning needs.  The role involves supporting children in their learning both individually and as part of a group. Experience and understanding of working with children with Complex Needs, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties or an Autistic Spectrum Disorder would be beneficial.

You will possess excellent communication skills, at all levels, along with the ability to engage constructively with, and relate to, a wide range of children with different needs. Previous experience of working in a similar role would be advantageous but not absolutely necessary.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and are strongly encouraged. Please contact the school on 01767 681185 to make an appointment.

The full job description, person specification and application form can be found on the school website: https://www.robertpeelprimaryschool.org/

Robert Peel Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The appointment will be subject to satisfactory references being gained, an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), online profile check and criminal convictions declaration.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. The amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975, (amended 2013 and 2020)) provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. The MOJ’s guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975, provides information about which convictions must be declared during job applications and related exceptions and further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide
