Lead IT Technician

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum

Starting salary – £32,597 per annum

OAT Grade 6, Points 20 – 25

The Role

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic & forward-thinking IT professional to join our dedicated team. The postholder will be the senior IT team member on site and will provide technical and operational support, guidance and supervision. They will ensure effective day-to-day delivery of IT services for all users, enhancing teaching & learning and academy operations. The role also involves supporting the delivery of IT services at a local primary school within OAT.

This position would suit an individual who is supportive and enjoys the challenge of a busy and varied role. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service and organisational skills, be flexible in their approach and have a strong understanding of infrastructure and server support and management.

This is a full time, all year-round role which offers an exciting opportunity for experienced candidates ready to take the next step in their career.

The Academy

Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school, conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders, and benefits from excellent road and rail links.

The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018.  This extension is an addition to the £20.6 million state-of-the-art building that was completed September 2012, giving every student the opportunity to learn in an exciting and inspiring environment at an Academy that has been recognised for its high standards of inclusion. The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer.

We are looking for an individual who:

  • Has significant experience in an IT support role. Previous experience in an education setting would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrates excellent troubleshooting skills and a practical, “can-do” approach.
  • Has strong working knowledge of and is confident using Microsoft 365, Azure, Teams, SharePoint and Active Directory.
  • Has an understanding of safeguarding, data protection and the importance of secure IT practices.
  • Is organised and is able to prioritise effectively under pressure and in a busy school environment.
  • Is able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Is able to explain technical information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
