Caretaker – St John Henry Newman Catholic Primary School
Hours – Negotiable 27.5 per week (7.00am – 1.00pm)
Salary – £25,989 to £28,598
St John Henry Newman Catholic Primary School is seeking a proactive and dedicated Caretaker to join our team. In this role, you will work alongside our Site Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of our school, maintaining the safety, security and overall upkeep of our building and grounds.
Since opening in September 2022 with just 38 pupils, St John Henry Newman has grown rapidly and now serves over 420 children. In March 2025, the school was judged Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted, recognising the strength of our staff, our community, and our unwavering commitment to excellence. As our Caretaker, you will play a key role in supporting this thriving school environment.

Responsibilities include:
• Routine maintenance, repairs, and cleaning duties, including painting, fixing equipment, and general upkeep of school grounds
• Assisting in setting up for events and managing daily operational tasks
• Maintaining site security
• Supporting health and safety requirements by carrying out safety checks, assisting with fire alarm testing, and ensuring compliance with regulations
• Working closely with the Site Manager to maintain a safe and welcoming school environment
We are looking for someone who:
• Is proactive, reliable and committed to maintaining a high standard of care for the school environment
• Enjoys hands-on work and is adaptable to a wide variety of tasks
• Has an understanding of health and safety requirements and takes responsibility for compliance
• Is positive, flexible and able to work as part of a supportive team
• Shares our commitment to nurturing children within a strong Catholic ethos
