KS1 Class Teacher (Class 2 – 10 Year 1 and 20 Year 2 mixed class)

Grade: Main Scale Teacher range – Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are welcome to apply

Starting September 2026 (opportunity for paid transition days in July 2026)

Would you enjoy working in a small, ambitious and creative school? If so, then Great Abington is a welcoming school that you should consider. In addition to delivering a strong curriculum we have developed an exciting outdoor learning area which provides many opportunities for cross curricular links and for developing life skills. We work closely with our local community to provide children with a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities and classes regularly visit Abington Woods across the year for Forest school activities.

In February 2024 we had a very positive Section 5 Ofsted Inspection remaining a Good school with an Outstanding judgement for our Personal Development for our pupils.

As part of your support you will work with a full time Teaching Assistant as well as a Sports Leader who provides extra support for PE and swimming in our on site heated swimming pool. Our SENCO and Pupil Premium lead Laura Lungley provides your preparation, planning and assessment cover and this would also be the same provision for an ECT receiving additional time out of their classroom.

We are looking to appoint a Key Stage 1 Class Teacher who will fully embrace the positive ethos of the school and demonstrate excellent teaching and learning skills. We are looking for a caring, motivated and creative classroom practitioner who values the potential of every child and the special relationship between the school, home and the community. We have an experienced team and will work cooperatively to facilitate a tailored personal development programme. The position is open to early career teachers who would be allocated a mentor and provided with a bespoke support package.

We have a three year planning cycle that is mapped out across topics but gives you the autonomy to plan for your class. We subscribe to subject associations and educational resources to enable you to draw on materials and resources.

The school community is committed to working for the benefit of all. Every member of the team is valued and supported to be ambitious, creative and forward looking.

We would encourage you to visit our school and discuss the position further and see what an exciting opportunity this could be for you. Please contact Emma Presland (Admin Lead) in the school office for information or to book a visit. An informal discussion with the headteacher is also encouraged to understand more about our school. www.greatabington.school/contact-details/ 01223 891362
