SEND Teaching Assistant Required
(16.25 hours per week Monday-Friday 12pm-3.15pm Term Time Only)

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young learners? Great Paxton CE Primary School is seeking a dedicated and nurturing 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within EYFS/KS1 and also providing additional support to children across the school.

The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring individual to join our team and provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN as well as supporting other children across the school. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and other staff members to create an inclusive and engaging learning experience.

Responsibilities:
• Build a trusting relationship with the child, providing 1:1 supervision during tasks, playtime, and daily routines.
• Adapt EYFS learning materials and activities to meet the child’s specific needs.
• Implement tailored Individual Education Plans and Education Health Care Plans (EHCP).
• Monitor progress, keep daily records of activities, and contribute to the child’s learning journey records.
• Support with personal care needs (e.g., toileting) where necessary.
• Foster positive behaviour using school strategies and ensure the child’s safety, including managing risks.
• Liaise with the Class Teacher, SENCo, parents, and external professionals (e.g., speech therapists).
• Deliver small interventions to other pupils all need.

Essential Skills and Qualities:
• Has experience working with children, ideally within EYFS or KS1.
• Has a good understanding of SEN and strategies to support learning.
• Is patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about helping children reach their potential.
• Possesses strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Demonstrates commitment to the Christian ethos of our school.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential.
