Caretaker
Vacancy at St Helen’s Primary School – Bluntisham

Hours of work: Monday to Friday. 17.5hrs a week. Hours split between morning and afternoon/evening as agreed.
Scale: Level 2
Start Date: November 2025 or as soon as possible
Closing date: 12noon on Friday 7th November 2025.
Interview date: date TBC.

We are looking to appoint a Caretaker to join our happy, friendly and supportive school.

We are looking for an honest, reliable and hardworking person with good DIY skills, good organisational skills and an ability to work from initiative are essential.

This role will be working Mondays to Fridays with potential for some weekend keyholder responsibilities as agreed. Working hours can be flexible for the right candidate and can be discussed.

Your role will include:
1. Maintenance and Repairs: Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on buildings and grounds.
2. Cleaning: Overseeing the cleaning team, ensuring that the premises are clean and tidy. Completing cleaning and polishing of the hall floor and waste removal.
3. Safety Checks: Conducting regular safety inspections of the facilities and reporting any hazards or issues.
4. Equipment Management: Managing and maintaining tools and equipment used for maintenance and cleaning tasks.
5. Assisting with Events: Setting up and taking down equipment for school events, such as assemblies, sports events, or parent-teacher meetings.
6. Emergency Response: Being prepared to respond to emergencies, such as leaks, power outages, or other urgent situations.
7. Inventory Management: Keeping track of supplies and materials needed for maintenance and cleaning tasks.
8. Communication: Coordinating with school administration and staff regarding facility needs and maintenance schedules.
