Position
Working in partnership with our school and their leaders you’ll provide expert advice, guidance, and support on complex employee relations matters to ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant practices across schools. This role plays a key part in managing risk, resolving disputes, supporting line managers, and contributing to a positive and productive workplace culture. You’ll shape ER policy and strategy and may lead on high-profile or sensitive cases.
Experience of leading, communicating, advising and consulting at a senior level, and with trade unions, on large scale organisational change issues and policy development. Managing and motivating a team comes naturally to you too, as does using your creativity and initiative to resolve problems and mitigate risk. And, when it comes to dealing effectively with difficult welfare situations or confidential matters in line with policies and procedures, again, you have what it takes to deliver.
You are quick to build relationships at all levels and are always proactive and positive in your approach. You love to work in a fast-paced environment with high levels of autonomy and are keen to really make your mark. You take a true hands-on approach as well as the ability to successfully monitor the "pulse" of the customers business and schools. You also have the ability to be comfortable with high volume workload and not be afraid to "roll up your sleeves".
- To act as the first point of contact to provide advice and solutions to managers on employee relations matters including, working arrangements, contractual matters, sickness, employee communication, and consultation, either via phone or e-mail, in line with current legislation.
- Respond to a wide range of customer enquiries, via telephone, e-mail or other correspondence, relating to HR issues n a professional manner, to ensure that clients receive timely, accurate and valuable advice.
- Case management: where you will be responsible for dealing with high volume casework in a busy and fast paced environment.
- Liaising with the school’s other allocated contacts at EPM, to ensure a seamless HR, Payroll & Pensions service.
- To draft template letters in relation to any informal/formal meetings relating to ER cases, attending meetings/hearings as deemed necessary.
- Work in conjunction with colleagues in the HR advisory team to effectively hand over relevant cases ensuring a smooth and consistent service is provided
- Deliver a range of HR activities within identified areas of work and support the work of HR Partners and Lead HR Partners
- Actively contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the HR Advisory team, undertaking specific projects to embed consistency and best practice.
- Keep professionally up to date with human resource management trends and initiatives locally and nationally, identifying how they may impact on local service requirements and delivery or be utilised to improve efficiency.
- To maintain HR information management systems will relevant information, as per standard operating procedures.
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues within the team to support their development and to ensure that all clients receive timely, accurate and professional advice.
- Offer accurate interpretation, advice, application and representation to clients on employment legislation, best practice and policies and procedures in relation to and in the context of clients’ policies and procedures on a range of HR matters.
- Undertake visits, where appropriate, to clients to provide support and advice on HR concerns to assist in their resolution. Attend and advise at formal meetings, where appropriate in accordance with experience and knowledge
- Contribute to the sharing of good practice and knowledge amongst colleagues, as required.
- Attend and participate in regular team meetings as appropriate and training to keep up-to-date with current legislation, policies and procedures and other relevant guidance.
- Monitor available data including case work module (ensuring accurate at all times), client feedback, proactively addressing any customer service concerns, escalating to a senior colleague where appropriate.
- Support with administrative HR matters, as required.
- Be compliant with EPM employee policies and procedures.
- Proactively participate in the EPM Appraisal process.
- Maintain high levels of confidentiality and integrity at all times.
- Ensure outstanding customer service in all areas of the organisation.
- Promote EPM Ltd whenever possible, seeing opportunities for new business.
- Proactively seek new and innovative ways to work smarter, not harder, ensuring clarity and consistency across the organisation.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
