School Teachers’ Pay Award 2020-2021

Summary

On 21 July 2020, the DfE published the School Teachers’ Review Body (STRB) 30th report and the responding written ministerial statement. In that statement, the Secretary of State for Education accepted all recommendations from the STRB in relation to pay ranges and salaries for teachers. The uplifts represent a 3.1% increase in the overall pay bill.

The announcement comes following the education sector’s response and support throughout the Coronavirus pandemic and provides the biggest pay rise in 15 years. The pay rise, for teachers and School leaders, is among almost 900,000 public sector workers who are also set to receive an above-inflation pay rise this year.
